By Jon Wilson Each year, the Veterans Charity Ride group travels from California to Sturgis for the rally. The non-profit organization uses motorcycle therapy and provides other experiences such as Friday’s firearm shooting competition at the Buffalo Chip. The group brings in wounded and severely injured veterans, and seeks to provide them with great experiences to help the healing process.
Veterans Charity Ride Founder Dave Frey says, “We bring veterans from all branches of service, Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines. We bring them from all over the country. We fly them into Los Angeles, we give them a motorcycle safety course, we hang out with Jay Leno for the day and check out his Leno’s Garage Museum. Then the next day, we take off from Los Angeles and we ride to the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.” The Veterans Charity Ride hopes to turn veterans into happier and more capable individuals through these experiences.
