MATT MARTIN - MARINESI had been introduced to Veterans Charity Ride at one of the lowest points of my life and it started a chain of events that would lead to some of the best things that could have possibly happened to me. I was introduced to some of the most amazing people that have become family to me and reintroduced me to what I thought I had lost.
After 4 years in the Marine Corps, I tried everything to get the same love for something like I had in the Corps. With success at some and many more failures than I can count. VCR had shown me that being out on two wheels in the wind and hanging out with people who understood me like no one else could (Veterans) would do more for me than anyone could possibly have explained. I can never thank Dave and Sue Frey enough for taking me in and getting a fire lit in my soul to get out there and ride. I genuinely believe I would not have ended up where I am today if it were not for this. I have a zest for life like I never had believed possible. It took a lot of people, an immense amount of heartache, and a ton of hard work to get me where I am today, but it was all worth it. What VCR had shown me and reminded me of was that the love of my brothers had carried me through the most uncertain and most intense times in life. They had shown me that we still have the love and a bond that can never be broken. We can still have fun and talk about things. With joy and laughter instead of being bitter and angry about them all the time. God Bless Dave and Sue Frey for all they have done and continue to do for our brothers and sisters. |
