David Green, Army SFC (ret)​ - Mentor

David joined the June program of VCR in 2022. The ride and program was the catalyst that spurred him on to find his new path. His love of riding and wrenching motorcycles and helping veterans has given a renewed purpose and direction to his life. We are very proud to have David return in October 2022 as a mentor.  

David Green was born and raised in Oklahoma. He followed in the footsteps of the men in his family and joined the Oklahoma National Guard before graduating high school. To the surprise of his high school sweetheart, Jill, who he asked to marry at age 20, and everyone else in his life, he joined the Army so he would have a career that would support their family. 

Through his eighteen years in the Army, he and his family were stationed in Colorado, Louisiana, Texas, Germany, Colorado. Arkansas, and Georgia. Throughout those 18 years, his MOS's were 11B,13B, 88M, and 79R.

David served 2 tours in Iraq (2003 and 2005). David was medically discharged from the military in February 2013 after numerous back surgeries connected to his deployments.

David has always had a love for motorcycles and is currently riding a 2016 Harley Davidson Street Glide special. Although he has also owned Honda BR F3, Harley Fat Bob and Road King. His time on his motorcycle is therapeutic and he is looking forward to connecting with other veterans who have similar backgrounds and a love for motorcycles. 

He and Jill have been married for 26 years, and together have a daughter, Madison, 25, and a son, Braden, 20. David says one of his biggest successes of his military career is the education of his wife and children because of the G Bill and Chapter 35 benefits he received from his injuries. His wife Jill just completed her doctorate in Educational Leadership in December 2021; his daughter Madison, earned her Masters in Counseling Psychology in May and plans to help veterans like her dad who suffer from P.T.S.D and his son, Braden, earned his associates in computer science with plans to continue on for his bachelors. 

​When David is not riding his motorcycle, who can find him practicing his newest hobby, guitar that he began when he was introduced with Guitars 4 Vets through the VA. David is extremely honored to be selected for this opportunity and the chance for continued healing with other veterans.
