NBC News center: (VIDEOS) Veterans Charity Ride donates PPE to local first responders

STURGIS, S.D. — The Veterans Charity Ride to Sturgis (VCR) is a veteran-operated, non-profit organization that uses “motorcycle therapy” to get vets outdoors and connect them with a strong network of other veterans to help them adjust back into civilian life.
They have custom-built motorcycles and sidecars for disabled veterans to operate.

This year’s ride to the legendary Sturgis Motorcycle Rally began on July 29 in Moab, Utah where the group took a cruise through the mountainous roads of Utah. They stopped in the cities of Craig and Fort Collins, Colorado and rode through some of the nation’s most scenic backroads and highways before arriving in Sturgis, South Dakota on Friday, August 7.

This year, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, VCR donated Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) bundled packages, and celebrating local first responders and front-line workers at Indian Motorcycle in Sturgis.
They had a ‘Hero’s Welcome’, where the veterans were recognized and thanked for their service and commitment to our country.
This year, as a response to the pandemic, the VCR will implement a “service before self” initiative to show appreciation to first responders who have been working on the frontlines during the pandemic by donating PPE items throughout the ride.
Dave Frey, Founder of VCR, says, “They [MyMedic] has given us these to hand out so we are here today to give these out to our first responders.”
