1st Annual Firearm Friday Shooting Competition

The Veterans Charity Ride to Sturgis and Nordic Components have joined together to present the 1st Annual Firearm Friday Shooting Competition during the 76th Annual Sturgis® Motorcycle Rally™ August 8-14th.

The Sturgis Motorcycle Rally is an American motorcycle rally held annually in Sturgis, South Dakota, usually during the first full week of August. It was begun in 1938 by a group of Indian Motorcycle riders and was originally held for stunts and races, but it has evolved into being a meeting for motorcycle enthusiasts from around the world. It brings significant income to the citizens of Sturgis, a town of only 6,627 people. It is one of the largest motorcycle rallies in the world.

​Veterans Charity Ride to Sturgis takes wounded and amputee veterans on motorcycles, trikes and sidecars from Los Angeles to the Sturgis Bike Rally in South Dakota. In 2015 VCR took 8 veterans and in 2016 they are taking twice as many.

​VCR spends over a week riding on America’s most beautiful roads, getting to know each other and helping each other with Motorcycle Therapy.  The shared experiences of serving brings them together, veteran to veteran to help each other heal.  They also show the Veterans just how much their service means to America, by stopping in small towns along the way to meet the grateful people of our nation who want to celebrate these brave men and women. 

Once in Sturgis, we spend the week of the rally, riding the Black Hills, attending events and giving the Veterans the unique “Sturgis Experience”. (More on VCR). VCR’s lead sponsor is Indian Motorcycle.

​The Firearm Friday Shooting Competition will be a new event this year at the rally. Nordic Components will be providing the firearms and helping sponsor the event.

At the Firearm Friday Shooting Competition, Veterans will compete with each other, special operations snipers, local & regional sharpshooters.
