Sarah Horton - Staff Sergeant - US Army
Sarah lived in Phoenix, Arizona until she enlisted in the United States Army in 2010 at the age of eighteen with full support from her family. Her father had previously served as an Armor Officer for the 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment and had the opportunity to promote her to Staff Sergeant prior to her second deployment where she served in the same unit.
Initially assigned to 2nd Brigade, 25th Infantry Division in Hawaii, Sarah deployed immediately to Diyala, Iraq to link up with her unit. Sarah quickly progressed as an All-Source Intelligence Analyst and deployed for her second time to both Paktiya and Jalalabad Provinces in Afghanistan as a Platoon Sergeant with 1st Squadron, 3rd Cavalry Regiment out of Fort Hood, TX. She is a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) & Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF). The Army is where Sarah discovered her true passion as a leader and she is nostalgic on a somewhat regular basis. Sarah left the Army in October of 2016 to pursue a degree at the University of California, Los Angeles where she studied Political Science with hopes to attend law school in the future. Sarah’s been riding for 8 years and nominated for the VCR program by returning veteran mentor Kaylan Harrington who she served with in Iraq. We are very happy to welcome Sarah to the VCR Team. |
